Uncut and partially unopened in original publisher's limp vellum, spine lettered and decorated in gilt, T.E.G., gold coated endpapers. Housed in original publisher's black cloth slipcase. Vellum a trifle cockled, else fine. With a loosely inserted Nonesuch Press compliments slip, inscribed 'With Christmas greetings from Francis Meynell'.
A handsome limited edition of Tennyson's 'In Memoriam'; an elegy for his friend Arthur Henry Hallam, that reflects both on his personal experience of grief as well as the natural processes of life and questions of materialism.

This copy is accompanied by a note of festive greeting from typographer and publisher Francis Meynell (1891-1975), the founder of Nonesuch Press, and the designer of this edition.
