viii, 1079pp, [1]. Finely bound by MacLehose of Glasgow (stamp-signed to verso of FFEP) in contemporary gilt-tooled calf, contrasting red morocco lettering-piece to spine. The Globe Edition of Shakespeare's works, finely bound by MacLehose, edited by English classical scholars William George Clark (1821 – 1878) and William Aldis Wright (1831 – 1914). First published in nine volumes as The Cambridge Shakespeare between 1863 and 1866, this 1864 collection, on fine India paper, removes the extensive footnotes and critical apparatus of the individual volumes.
