The first edition, finely bound by Ramage, of the first known collaboration between Scottish travel writer and topographer John M. Leighton and noted Glaswegian engraver Joseph Swan (1796-1872), richly furnished with the drawings of local painter John Fleming (1792-1845). The success of this volume motivated the three to continue producing topographical works, beginning with Select Views on the Clyde (1830) and concluding with their best-known collaboration, Select Views of the Lakes of Scotland, in 1834.
