London. Gay & Hancock, [1912].

A beautifully illustrated edition of American poet Ella Wheeler Wilcox's (1850-1919) Poems of Passion and Pleasure, a successful collection at first rejected by publishers due to its provocative title and racy contents. This edition is illustrated by Dudley Tennant (1867-1952), who, after exhibiting works at both the Royal Academy and the Walker Art Gallery, would go on to illustrate many books and magazines, including a selection of Dickens retellings by Ethel Lindsay.
