Presentation copy, with an A.L.S in the author's hand pasted to recto of FFEP: ' My dear Sir, If you should find the accompanying volume, not printed for publication, worth a place in your library, I should feel much satisfied. I remain my dear Sir, yours respectfully Theodore Martin / William Stonleigh'.
The sole edition, printed for private circulation, of Scottish lawyer and biographer Theodore Martin's (1816-1909) translations from Schiller, Ludwig Uhland, and Goethe; notably including the entirety of the latter's magnum opus, Faust.
