With an additional illustrated title-page and 21 engraved illustrations in the text by Westley Horton. Uncut in original publisher's pictorial buckram. Extremities rubbed, marked, and dulled. Endpapers browned, later ink ownership inscription of 'The Spitfire Library' to head of additional title. Manuscript note to limitation page: 'Subscribing Copy / Charles Whittingham Esq.' Presentation copy, ink inscription to recto of front blank fly-leaf: 'Mary C. Manning / from her affectionate father / W. Manning / Sept 8th. 1902'.
