The manuscript minute book, recording 240 meetings, of the trustees appointed to ensure the maintenance of the Alston turnpike road, Hexham, commencing in 1778 and concluding in 1800. The entries record their place of meeting, usually a local tavern, the signatures of those in attendance, and intermittent notes on the provision of members salaries and proposals for alterations to tolls. The final eight pages of manuscript text are taken up with signed oaths of qualification required by an act of Parliament issued in 1800.
